Venue: Jasmine Executive Suites.
The iTeam
Studio seeks out-of-the-box solutions for these complex problems by using the
group imagination of a diverse pool of people from all layers of society. A
typical iTeam Studio lasts for just 2 hours during which one complex issue is
being tackled. Leaders of organisations that use the iTeam Studio not only
leave with out-of-the-box solutions, but also feel energised to take action as
many solutions are down to earth.
The iTeam
Studio originated in the Netherlands some 18 years ago as result of a national
competition on societal innovation. Since then the iTeam Studio has been used
extensively by a wide array of organisations, including governments, companies,
ngo's and even artists. This is the first time the iTeam Studio is being
presented in Asia.
The first certified facilitator of Australia, Tom Schawarz, shared the tool Flip Flop Debate with the forum.
The group of 16 participants did a quick round robin
introduction of themselves. The helped
form and focus the group. Tom Sschwarz introduced
the theme of the flip flop debate: “Do values really matter? Can’t we do without them?” The issue is purposely designed to
inflame. The room was divided into
“Believers” on the right side of the room and “Non-believers” on the left side
of the room.
Everyone was asked to sit in two rows facing each
other and argue their position for another 10 minutes.
In the second round, Tom Schwarz had the participants regroup
in to brainstorm again, but this time they had to “flip flop” their positions. Believers became cynics and vice versa.
In the end, all participants, regardless their original beliefs, came to a deeper understanding of both standpoints.
Theme: Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator: Joe Toepfer
Venue: Bangkok Christian Guest House,123 Saladaeng Soi 2, Silom, Bangkok
German facilitator Joe Toepfer introduced the forum to Appreciative Inquiry (AI) – a method or approach that has been successfully applied in the corporate world as well as the not- for-profit sector. It has become one of today’s most popular change methods. Rather than focus on what needs to be fixed. Appreciative Inquiry looks deeply into the root causes of success and leverages and amplifies what is most successful, meaningful and alive to make dreams happen. The questions were prepared for practice rounds and the participants paired up to practice the method. More about Appreciative Inquiry:http://appreciativeinquiry.case.edu/
